Dear 6th Grade Students and Parents:
It’s almost June and we are quickly arriving at the end of the school year! According to the district
calendar and exam schedule, the grade 6 math final exam will be given in two class periods on Friday June 8 and Monday June
11. The math final exam will mostly cover the mathematical concepts covered from the midterm on, however may have questions
on topics learned during the first half of the school year. The concepts to focus on are:
- ratios, rates, proportions
- percents
- data analysis (more details will be given in class)
- geometry (surface area of a prism and pyramid, volume of a rectangular prism, area and perimeter)
- graphing a line on the coordinate plane and plotting points
- pre-algebra
Here is a list of recommendations to review/study for the final:
- Complete all final exam review worksheets and the packet
- Review warm ups, notes, classwork and homework on the above topics (and of course fractions and negative numbers
mixed in!)
- Review past tests and quizzes
- In your Student Reference Book look up the topics listed above, read over the examples given and try the Check
Your Understanding problems. Answers are provided in the back of the text.
- Come after school or period 5 for extra work, help or to go over a specific
past test or quiz.
Good luck!
- Mrs. Squires
